If you know anything about e-cigarettes, you probably find it absolutely astounding how much rubbish is written about them by people who DON'T know anything about them.
A typical example is a recent Metro article by Rob Waugh, who screamed aloud:
Passive smoking warning as e-cigarettes are found to harm bystanders
Read the article, though, and there's nothing of the sort - all it said.....
There’s no evidence that e-cigarettes are safe!
That’s a claim made all over the internet. Another is that there has been no research into the devices. But while we wait for our trade organisation, ECITA, to finish uploading over 800 studies conducted into electronic cigarettes, you might like to see what actual scientists, doctors and public health professionals say about.....
Are you worried about metals in ecigarettes? With recent media headlines screaming that ecig vapour contain metals, you won't be the only one.
But with the levels of metal seemingly very low, I thought further analysis was needed. That proved difficult, as every study into metals in vapour and cigarette smoke seems to use different variables.
Fortunately, in the latest of our Interviews.....
Sitting on Highway 71 in Missouri is a factory producing microwavable popcorn.
The factory used a flavour called Diacetyl to produce its popcorn - and, according to one of its employees, Eric Peoples, it did so at three times the usual levels.
In the late 1990's, workers at the factory, including Eric Peoples, began to get ill.
Initially they thought it was just a cold.....
Researcher Dr.Konstantinos Farsalinos has once again kindly agreed to share his thoughts on his latest research (you can see his interviews on his research into e-cigarettes and the heart here, and his thoughts on the EU attitude towards e-cigarettes here).
Also, click here for more interviews about e-cigarettes with other scientist, campaigners and vapers. Once again, thanks to researcher Paul Bergen.....
A 2013 study by Professor Igor Burstyn, Drexel University School of Public Health, claims that e-cigarette use poses no danger to users or to bystanders.
Professor Burstyn reviewed 9,000 observations (peer reviewed papers and ‘grey’ papers) of the chemicals found in e-cigarette use and found the levels of harmful chemicals to the user or the ‘passive vapour’ were ‘insignificant’.
As well.....
Interview by Paul Bergen
Dr. Riccardo Polosa graciously agreed to discuss the findings in his latest research on smokers enrolled in a smoking cessation study testing the effectiveness of e-cigarettes (both nicotine and non-nicotine) for quitting smoking.
PLB: Perhaps one of the most intriguing aspects of this study is selecting individuals who were not planning on quitting, using a product intended.....
Dr Konstantinos Farsalinos is a cardiology researcher at the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, Kallithea, Greece and a researcher at University Hospital Gathuisberg, Leuven, Belgium. He is heavily involved in ECigarette research, and last year spoke to us about his research into the effect of electronic cigarettes on the heart. You can read more about his work on www.ecigarette-research.com.
We spoke to Dr.....
In the lastest of our series of e-cigarette interviews, Paul Bergen interviews Dr Farsalinos about an intriguing case study and a huge new survey of vapers.
This interview takes place just prior to the publication of Dr. Farsalinos’ case study of a patient who dramatically improved after switching from smoking to vaping. Later in the article we also discuss his.....

Clive Bates has had a varied career in the private, public and not-profit sectors. He was the Director of London-based campaigning organisation Action on Smoking and Health from 1997 to 2003......
I've often wondered whether you can vape cannabis, whether it's healthier if you do so and what the effects are.
Not having any experience in the area, I let this issue lie - until now! Janet Fox, who writes for the awesome Vaporizer Blog, kindly agreed to share her knowledge with us in this interview.
All opinions stated are Janet's -.....
We recently published a blog complaining about the way papers have only been publishing negative news about e-cigarettes.
The blog was in response to media stories about a new study which claims e-cigs lead to a restriction in airway passages, published as a press release entitled: Experts warn that e-cigarettes can damage the lungs.
While we were complaining, The Electronic Cigarette Trade.....
Last week we wrote about a very positive study on passive vaping which showed using an e-cigarette had no effect on the blood of users and non-users .
Now an All Voices articles discusses two more studies which show there is no reason for concern about passive vaping - or direct use of e-cigarettes!
Clearstream
An All Voices article (link since removed) announced that.....
A new study into the effects of electronic cigarette by a World Health Organisation (WHO) expert found that passive vaping leaves NO effect on the blood of non-vapers.
Not only that, it left no effect on smokers who actually used e-cigarettes.
In contrast, the study reported that both active and passive smoking lead to an increase in the number of white.....
